Does the EasyBloom give accurate readings when used indoors and I have new low "E" windows ? My plants have done poorly since the installation of the windows. thanks Randy P.S. Great product !
Low "E" windows work by blocking sunlight. This keeps your home cooler in warm climates. Unfortunately, sunlight that your plants need is blocked, also. The EasyBloom will measure the amount of sunlight a plant sees. I hope this helps you. Edith
Thanks Edith that is good news that I can do a meaningful measurement. Any source of info on specifically what the low E windows are blocking and how much? I have not found much on the web so far...
Randy- It really depends on what type of low e windows you have, but here's some good general diagrams of how they work http://www.efficientwindows.org/lowe.cfm Edith
Your kidding right? "LOW E" DOES NOT BLOCK SUN LIGHT rather it limits the spectrum of light that comes through the window! Basically a Low E window partially blocks out UV-A&B rays which can heat your house and cause damage to furniture, carpets etc. Also, Low E varies with window model, age of the window, gas leakage etc. Edith, If a LOW E window blocked sunlight your room would be dark! Agin, this unit does not differenciate between light spectrums it only show intensity reguardless if the window is Low E or not. I found this out by testing with our Low E window with the EB tester and a real spectrum anylizer.
