I would just like to add another voice/vote to the group that desires the option for real, raw, numerical data. I disagree with Matt E. that the numerical data is not meaningful without additional information. Yes, your context is critical for some evaluations, but being able to create your own quantitative index to relate to your own observations is something I think we all do inherently anyway. (Is $3/gallon a lot for gas? I don't need to be a petroleum engineer to have a sense for that.) Most of the time I'm not really even interested in the plant recommendations, but just want to compare the numbers across a range of conditions, times of day/year, etc. (For example, how cold did it get in my house while I was on vacation?) Clearly this data exists, all I'd like to see is an additional option that grants access to it. Maybe an advanced tab in Recommend Mode or something like that?

I was just thinking this! I ordered my Easy Bloom today, so I don't have it yet, but it does not look like it's got a wireless capability. Maybe y'all could develop a separate add-on that could make use of the USB cord that comes with the Easy Bloom that would be safe to leave in the yard but also communicate wirelessly without a computer? You might need to provide another USB dongle thingie for the computer that's home to the software so it would know which computer (in a house full of them) to connect to.

After reading the books "Gaia's Garden" (on permaculture methods) and "Mycellium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save the World," I am very high on altering my traditional gardening methods to incorporate the principles in these very exciting books. Especially, the idea of mycopesticides and smartly using the symbiosis between plants and mushrooms to enhance yields, soil quality, water conservation, and garden health will appeal to any gardener who would be using the Easy Bloom. Not only that, Stamet's work has profound implications for how we gardeners can really make a difference for the health of the planet as a whole.
I'll bet if you contacted Paul Stamets at Fungus Perfecti (http://www.fungi.com/) he would work with you to make these data available. (Tell him one of his fans who owns two of his books suggested it.)
I know the database is an extensive and ongoing project, so just please add this request for long-term development. For me, now, the info on optimal conditions for different species of mushrooms and the plants they partner with is more important than any other aspect of gardening.

Temprature, amount of moisture, density, I guess that's it. I'm no expert on gardening, by any means. I have a gardening book that tells you how to build a compost pile, but I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly. I guess I'd really just like to be able to tell if it needs to be watered or if it is "cooking."
Anyone else out there have any suggestions for this or should I just get a compost thermometer and keep my fingers crossed that I'm doing this correctly??

HI-
1) If you're monitoring an edible plant (like lettuce), the light/water/temperature needs are fairly constant across culitvars. We provide different cultivars as a convenience. So even if we don't have your exact cultivar, you can monitor a similar variety.
2) We're constantly adding plants--orchids are particularly tricky as they are NOT similar across the species.
3) This is good feedback about what our users want...we're listening.
Thanks

I fourth this, there are a lot of plants I grow that I am familiar with the exact needs of the plant and though we can use monitor to check for these needs it would be far nicer to be matching these readings up with plants. The plants I am working with have been hit or miss, the house plants have been in the data base but most of the edible plants have not as I tend to raise specialty varieties. I can appreciate the impossibility of trying to enter the specifics for every single plant someone out there may be interested in growing but it may not be a bad idea to add a user contributed database, that could denote that the plants data had not been verified by the myfolia team. It would be nice if we could see an answer from one of the myfolia team to see if this idea is in the works or not.
