Hello L.A. Gavin, To answer your question ~ Yes the fertilizer feature will work with organic fertilizers. Even organically derived fertilizers are in salt form that become soluble when watered. When the fertilizers become dissolved in water that is the state that they are measurable by our sensors and are available to the plant itself.
I see this is an older post, however if anyone is looking. Will the fertilizer subscription feature read organic soils and fertilizers? I read somewhere it reads the salts in the soil, I thought salts were generally used in chemical but not organic fertilizers. I don't want to pay for it only to discover it won't work in my yard.
General Gardening » Flame Willow
Hello Mary, Thanks so much for your inquiry. Your Flame Willow should do fantastically in zone 5. Cold enough to get the full effect of color for the fall and winter, but definitely within its hardiness zone. Should do great in the sun or a partially shady location. Please feel free to follow up with any new questions at all. Best regards!~ Ian Hall

Hi Raymond, A watering cycle is the time between waterings. If you are watering every three days, then put EasyBloom in the pot when you water, and plug it in when it is time to water again. Hope that helps! Matt
I think the fertilizer function is too basic. It would be ideal if the system would make nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium recommendations.
I'm a novice but have tried lots of stuff and the EasyBloom is way more useful for me than those cheap meters or soil kits. I am having more success with less time. My wife knows a lot more than me although not a master gardner. She likes it too, particularly when she decides to redo part of our yard.

I am a first time user of EasyBloom. I want to monitor my bell pepper. Instruction: Water the plant to the root zone. Leave the EasyBloom in for one watering cycle. When i soaked the plant initially, I altered the watering cycle. I water every 3 days, but I don't know when in the watering cycle did I start the test. When should I read the EasyBloom results?
I know that PH is important for azaleas and blueberries, but most of the plants that I am interested in grow well in a wide range of PH readings. The honey locust that the city planted on the terrace creates shade that changes throughout the day. A light sensor that records readings and then loads them into my computer, wouldn't that be nice? The Easy Bloom does this. It is the only device I can find that does this. For less than I would spend on that cute little trellis I have been coveting. A probe that measures soil ph? They got those. For four hundred dollars!
General Gardening » camellia japonica-'April Snow'
Hello Gretchen, It's good to see that you got a camellia in the 'April' series, as they are one of the most hardy of all Camellias. Normally zone 7 is the max cold hardy zone for Camellia japonica...but 'April Snow' streches into your 6b zone. Even so, I would give the plant some protection by having it planted close to your house. Placing your camellia in a location getting eastern exposure or morning sun is a good idea, as it can burn in the afternoon hot sun. Make sure your planting in soild that is acidic in nature. If not, it will need to be adjusted to give your camellia a chance to be a peak performer in your garden. Best! ~ Ian
