All components of Philodendron can cause stomach upset if consumed. Additionally, the sap extruded from these plants can aggravate the skin. Philodendrons are one of the earliest plants grown indoors. There are two main types. The vine types are climbers, while the self-heading types have short internodes and are self-supporting. They are native to tropical rainforests of South America.
