Plant Care
Planting:

Sow seeds when ripe at 55-64°F (13-18°C). Can also propagate by division and basal cuttings in spring.

Plant Growth:

Dark green, satiny foliage, with light green and brown-black markings and silver or red veins. Ground cover in tropical gardens. During the day, the 5 inch long leave lie flat, but they fold toward the center at night. Grows best in partial-deep shade.

Blooming:

Insignificant white flowers. The foliage is unusual, with detailed patterns and different midrib, vein, and underside colors.

Soil and Irrigation:

Rich and fast-draining soil outdoors. Indoors keep soil moist during growing season, using humidifier to keep air moist and keep night temperature above 55°F.

Fertilization:

During growth, implement a balanced liquid fertilizer on a monthly basis.

Pests:

Bud mites, spider mites, and mealybugs. Other issues include leaf spots and cucumber mosaic virus, both of which are quite common.
